If you are looking for a great meal that is even better than homemade then look no further than Tassone’s Wine Garden. They are open daily for lunch and dinner and conveniently located at 8113 Dexter Parkway in Baldwinsville. There is a reason that this family run restaurant has been a success for 21 years, the food is unbeatable. They have a full service bar with at least 39 different wine selections (Several local selections!), an impressive wine menu and they can seat up to 150 people in house. Reservations can be made by calling 635-5133 but walk-ins are always welcome and the wait on business nights is usually short, 30 to 45 minutes. Reservations are recommended for Mondays because of their fabulous all you can eat crab legs special for only $22.99.

My friend Sara and I arrived at Tassone’s Wine Garden on a rainy Wednesday evening. We were promptly greeted by owner Mary Tassone and quickly seated. Shortly thereafter we met our server Don, he like many of the wait staff has been there for 19 years, almost since they opened! We decided to start off by splitting an order of fried calamari ($8.99) which was lightly breaded on site (no greasy frozen calamari here!) and served with cocktail sauce and mustard sauce. We both agreed that this was quite possibly the best calamari we have ever had because although it was fried it was light and crispy and not at all greasy. We then received a large portion of freshly baked bread (although this bread is not baked on site it is brought in fresh daily from Mary’s cousin’s bakery!) and dinner salads with homemade Italian dressing. For an entrée I ordered Chicken and Mushroom Rigatoni ($15.99) which was a large portion of rigatoni and a giant portion of chicken and mushrooms topped with their homemade vodka sauce. Sara the Black and Blue Shrimp and Scallops ($16.99), which was once again a large portion of sautéed shrimp and large scallops in a spicy Cajun alfredo sauce with crumbly blue cheese served over fettuccini. We were both very impressed with the gigantic serving sizes and admittedly brought enough home from at least another meal! We decided that we just couldn’t pass up dessert even though we were already so full so we ordered the white raspberry chocolate cheese cake ($4.99) which is a white chocolate cheesecake with raspberry swirl topped with raspberry sauce and white chocolate sauce.
The food at Tassone’s Wine Garden is truly unbeatable. We had a hard time choosing exactly what we wanted to eat because there were so many scrumptious options. To begin with, all of the sauces are homemade on the premise. They have a delicious Mozzarella Fresca appetizer ($7.99) which is roasted red peppers, prosciutto and fresh mozzarella, the Chef’s Special ($16.99) which is scallops, crab and shrimp in marinara sauce over a bed of linguine and Veal Rossini ($17.99) which is a breaded veal cutlet baked with prosciutto, sliced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and house sauce with a choice of pasta, potato or wild rice. They also have desserts to die for including pink lady cake ($4.99) which is a white raspberry cake in between cheesecake that is topped with strawberries, Incredible Caramel Apple Pie ($4.95) Fresh New York State apples covered with cinnamon in a homemade Austrian streusel, drizzled with caramel and Oreo Cookie Cake (4.75) which is lawyers of Oreo cookies, chocolate and vanilla pudding, cream cheese and whipped cream.
